Synoposis:

There's a big valentine-party planned in the little miningtown Valentine's Bluff. It is the first valentine party in 20 years, because then there was an accident in the mine, and the accident happened because the men responsible for the security was at the party. The sole surviving miner killed them, and told the town NEVER to arrange a valentine party again. The party begins, and so does the killing...

dvd features:

This disc was given top notch picture and equally as top notch sound … but when it came to extras it was given the shaft, void of anything …

overall impressions:

For 85 minutes I absolutely loved this film. Was it a slasher pic? You bet, but it had a good backstory, an awesome looking villain, and was just plain good. Now why do I say it lost me in the last 5 minutes, well that is simply because the ending really disappointed me. You watch this entire movie, and in the back of your head you predict how it will end, and then when it actually does end it is anti-climactic and just leaves you puzzled and a bit angry.

Basically the ending was rushed . This film throughout it’s entirety was well paced. Like I said, it was a good movie. A fun slasher pic to say the least. While watching this, in my head I was recasting it with today’s Hollywood stars … as this is the type of movie that should be redone. The story is absolutely amazing, a mix of an urban legend, and a local campfire tale. The look of the villain, Harry Warden, is absolutely top notch. With a creepy miners outfit and a miners pick in hand he looked like, and came across as, a force to be reckoned with.

I was rather disappointed, but not all out surprised, that this film was not given the grade A DVD treatment. I mean, to put it bluntly, it doesn’t have a cult following. I am a horror fan and I had never heard of it until now … and I think with a DVD that was over the top that could have changed. This fun little picture could have turned into a “ cult classic “ … I can totally see teenagers hanging out on a rainy Saturday night with the lights off watching this movie … it is that kind of movie, and is that good.

I recommend at the absolute least giving this a rent. The movie is fun, at times scary, and will provide you with a good amount of enjoyment. Should you buy it without seeing it ? I wouldn’t recommend it, but you could buy a lot worse. I would say rent it first, see what you think, and if you are a fan of it , which I think you will be , go and pick it up. It’s a good watch and if you choose to , it can make a good addition to any DVD collection.
